706 Day is an annual July 6th community celebration honoring the people, culture, and shared pride of Northeast Georgia's 706 area code.

Created to bring all generations together, the event centers unity, joy, and access through free food, activities, entertainment, and meaningful community connection.

Community-driven and open to the public, Athens 706 Day creates a welcoming, inclusive space where neighbors of all ages can connect, celebrate, and engage with local resources.

The day highlights the strength of Athens through togetherness, creativity, and shared experiences.

How 706 Day Began

Athens 706 Day was envisioned by Alesha Smith and Isaiah Stephens as a response to a simple but powerful question: How do we bring all generations together in a meaningful way to honor the Athens community?

After conducting an intergenerational community survey, the event was intentionally designed to appeal to youth, adults, and seniors alike, creating a space where everyone feels seen, welcomed, and valued.
